Just 20 miles north of New York City, Eastchester is a Westchester County suburb with plenty to love. The town is known for its long history and beautiful scenery. With roots as a farming town, New York’s growing urbanization converted the town once the railroad expanded into the area in the 1840s. Many historic buildings still stand in Eastchester, including the Marble Schoolhouse and Hotel Gramatan.

Local Lifestyle
Eastchester is a quaint and historic town with a peaceful atmosphere. Located about an hour north of New York City, Eastchester benefits from being a small town with convenient access to the larger city. It is this access that draws young professionals to the area, while the many excellent schools and parks, as well as the quietness of the town, draw in families with children. All in all, Eastchester is the perfect place for many different types of people.
Dining, Entertainment & Shopping
Eastchester has many opportunities for dining and shopping. With that being said, the following are only some of the best that the area has to offer.
When looking for a fine dining experience, one great restaurant is Eastchester Fish Gourmet, an award-winning seafood restaurant. Aside from its fine dining, the Eastchester Fish Group consists of a fresh market and a more casual, counter-serve restaurant. Ciao Restaurant is a delicious Italian restaurant serving lunch and dinner menus alongside an extensive wine list, with party options available as well. For burgers, try stopping by Piper’s Kilt, a tavern-style restaurant serving pub fare.
There are also several beloved shops in Eastchester. One of the best places to shop is at the Vernon Hills Shopping Center, a mall featuring popular brands such as Ann Taylor and Talbots. Also located in the complex is Banana Republic and Athleta. Across White Plains Road, you can find shops like Chico’s, LOFT, and The Fresh Market. Down the road, you can find Huntley Cards, a popular gift shop, as well as Obsession Jewelers, which is a family-owned business selling jewelry at affordable prices.
Things to Do
Eastchester also has many opportunities for spending days outdoors enjoying the gorgeous weather. Whether you want to spend the day at a local park or partake in a local community event, Eastchester will have something fun for everyone!
When looking for local events, one great option is the Summer Concert Series. This annual concert series is free and hosted at the Lake Isle Country Club. The Eastchester Public Library hosts a Paint a Masterpiece event, where participants are encouraged to recreate a masterpiece on canvas, as well as many other events such as children’s reading and coding club meetings. The Lake Isle Country Club also hosts several different events throughout the year, with an updated list available on their website.
Eastchester has many lush parks and green spaces to visit for a relaxing day outdoors. One such place is Dunwoodie Park, a seven-acres park with a baseball field, basketball court, and an open space perfect for many sports. Another great park is Chester Heights, which has a softball field, basketball court, a newly opened Kiddie Playground, and other play structures. Garth Road Park is home to a Little League field, basketball courts, various playground amenities, and picnic areas.
Schools
Eastchester is served by the Eastchester Union Free School District and has many great schools in the area. One school of note is the Immaculate Conception School
